Samsung Galaxy A07 is the Cheapest Phone with 6 OS Updates

Samsung makes phones for almost every price point: you want a phone under 100 bucks? Not a problem. Do you have 1,200 bucks to spend on a phone? Samsung has you covered.

That’s one thing that I adore about Samsung.

But they went above and beyond with the Samsung Galaxy A07 in 2026. It’s the first phone under $150 to receive six major OS updates. By major OS updates, I mean that users will have the latest Android experience for the coming six years, and that is impressive.

Having said that, should you just go right out and purchase the Galaxy A07?

Well, you can, but I advise against it. It’d be better if you waited to find out more about the device before swiping your credit card. Let me tell you more about this device because it’s been seven days since I started using it as my daily driver.

Things I Love About Samsung Galaxy A07

Battery Timing

Whether I binge-watch shows or play games on the Galaxy A07, this phone doesn’t die until my eyes are tired of watching the screen.

Why is that?

This phone comes with a massive 6.000mAh of battery. This is the biggest battery I have seen in a sub $150 smartphone.

It also helps that the experience of watching videos and playing games on this device is sweetened by the fact that I use WOW fiber internet. The streaming quality with this internet service is top-notch, and multiplayer games run smoothly because of low latency. If you need to upgrade your internet, reach out to WOW customer service 24 hours.

With normal usage, the Galaxy A07 battery lasts for at least two days. By normal use, I mean checking social media, replying to messages, listening to music, and stuff like that.

If you hate putting your phone on charge in the middle of the day, the Galaxy A07 is a perfect choice for you.

Display

You won’t find many great options when it comes to display at the price point of just $150. But the Samsung Galaxy A07 is an exception. Well, somewhat of an exception.

It comes with a 720p, 6.7-inch IPS LCD that refreshes at 120hz. These are decent specs for a cheap phone like the Galaxy A07. Most of the phones either miss the IPS nature, or they will have a 90Hz refresh rate.

Scrolling feels smooth, and the Samsung IPS helps with more accurate colors. All in all, it’s a good display for its price.

Software Experience

This is the best thing about this phone. Let me explain why it is like that.

Previously, Samsung used to have a stripped-down version of the OneUI. It was called OneUI Core, and people didn’t like it, and I was one of those people.

This time around, it is the same OneUI that’s being run on the flagship S series, and it is wonderful. Samsung has one of the best Android skins, and it will be updated until Android 22.

Though it will feel a little slow on this phone, it’s fine at this price.

Nonetheless, the software experience is great, and it will remain the same for the next six major Android operating system updates.

Things I Wish Were Better on the Samsung Galaxy A07

Camera

This is one of the aspects that I wish were better on the Galaxy A07. On paper, it comes with a dual camera system, but the secondary lens doesn’t add value. It’s a 2MP depth sensor, which is used for accurate edge detection when taking portraits.

None of the flagships has this, which means it is just there to look good from the back.

On top of that, the main shooter is a 50MP lens that comes without optical image stabilization. It takes okay photos when there is enough light. At night, it struggles to hold up its dynamic range.

Adding fuel to the fire is its 1080p video recording at 30fps. Many budget phones these days can record in 4K, but not the Galaxy A07. It’s a bummer.

I am fine with having a single camera lens at the back, but the manufacturers should make sure it is good.

Processor

Last but not least, I was expecting Samsung to use its own processor, but they went with MediaTek Dimensity 6300. It is not a bad processor at $150, but it could have been better with a slightly better Exynos, which could have kept its price point the same.

For regular use like taking photos, watching videos on YouTube, taking phone calls, and replying to emails, it works fine. But it reveals it is a cheap phone when you multitask on it or play heavy multiplayer games on it. I didn’t expect it to be phenomenal, but I am skeptical of its long-term performance.

Now, let’s answer the most important question: should you buy it? I think yes. If you can compromise on the performance and camera, it is a good phone for $150.
